John Trout – Weather

John Trout is a Network Radio Anchor for Westwood One News in Washington, DC. He’s also a Meteorologist having worked in that capacity in both radio and television. Trout has enjoyed on air and radio programming stops in such cities as Virginia Beach, VA – Indianapolis, IN and Pittsburgh, PA where he won two Acheivement in Radio Awards during his tenure there. He’s a licenced Private Pilot. The Federal Communications Commission designated the Amateur Radio call sign WX1MAN to him, which stands for “weather man”. Trout enjoys talking to other “ham operators” across the country and around the world especially when significant weather or storms break out. He has served as a Skywarn control operator facilitating calls from severe weather spotters for relay to the National Weather Service. In his capacity as Program Director he oversaw the news departments of several radio stations and hosted a nightly feature on WBOC Television entitled, “Proud To Serve” as well as being an on air Meteorologist for the station. He attended the Indiana University School of Journalism and, as a Network Radio News Anchor delivers world and national news to audiences listening on hundreds of affiliate radio stations throughout the United States.
