President Obama made stops in Dallas Wednesday to defend Obamacare and possibly do a little fundraising, and I happened to be at the right place when his entourage made a turn off the freeway exit I was nearby.
Dallas police had every street blocked as I drove by, with helicopter above, and I had wondered what might have been going on. I pulled off the road to join a small gathering crowd in front of the Subway restaurant to see what the commotion was. They were awaiting the president and motorcade to soon make the planned exit off the tollway and make a turn toward the Highland Park community (where no one ever invites me to dinner).
It was sight to see; dozens of motorcycle patrol cops preceding the presidential limo and blacked out Suburbans with Secret Service staff. I’m not a fan of the prez, and there wasn’t any cheering from that crowd, but it was a little bit of history.
